Brisbane Portrait Photographer - Brisbane Corporate Photographer
Babies can loose the “newborn baby curl” within 10 days of birth. If you’re looking for that little bottom to be up and the baby to be moldable, please schedule your session within the first 10 days after birth. If your baby is awake during the night, morning sessions generally work better as they will be more sleepy.
Dress your baby in something that is easily removed without disturbing them too much. Have whatever clothing your baby is wearing beforehand including the diaper on loosely; this avoids red marks on your beautiful baby’s skin.
Whether the session is held at your home or on location, the area I work in with your newborn needs to be very warm, warm enough to be uncomfortable for adults. The warm air not only keeps your child cozy while having their photos taken but it also allows them to be photographed in bare skin. Sleeping newborn portraits create wonderful memories of little ones who are growing by the day.
Keep your baby as active as possible prior to the photo session. Babies have awake periods as well, and in order to be ready for their photos they must be comfortable. Please have your baby well fed right before the session; a hungry baby is a cranky baby!
If there are any toys or items that are important to you and you would like them included in your newborn photography session, please don’t hesitate to give me a call and let me know.
If younger siblings are being photographed with baby try and have them wear colors that compliment the baby’s gender. Mum & Dad your hands will most likely be shown in many of the close up photographs, Please make sure your nails are trim and look nice.
A typical newborn session will go for approximately 2.5 hours, the younger the baby the less likely we will need the whole of the allocated time, but I still recommend it to avoid any stress. Having this extra time period allows for any extra feedings, diaper changes and spurts of crankiness.
No matter what your baby does, know that I am always relaxed and very patient. Do not feel anxious if your baby cries during the session or has any accidents, messes are part and parcel of the job and I will be on hand to assist in any clean up.
Your session is not only special for your newborn but also for you. First time mum’s can get apprehensive when their baby starts to cry, please do not worry, your baby will be more relaxed if you do not become stressed yourself. If we need to take a break to feed, walk, rock or have a cuddle etc. we can do this.
